KB: App Drawer

In certain scenarios you may wish to provide easy access to a small number of applications already installed on the device, this is where the app drawer feature is useful. It provides a bottom drawer where the end user can tap an app icon from a predefined list.

Enable App Drawer
In order to use the app drawer it first must be enabled under Settings > App Drawer > Enable App Drawer.

To control which applications are shown in the drawer you can use the Visible Apps setting (Settings > App Drawer > Visible Apps) which you can select an unlimited number of apps from.

Remote Management
If you use Remote Management, you would need to change this setting within your Profiles, as per the following screenshots.

Firstly, open the App Drawer menu towards the bottom of the settings list and switch the toggle to the green enabled position.

Next, you will need to enter the full application package name, for the app you wish to show in the app drawer. i.e. the standard Android calculator package name is com.android.calculator2

You can find the package name by opening the "Visible Apps" setting on the device itself under Settings > App Drawer > Visible Apps.

Once this is complete, select save and then select the save icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.

How to access the app drawer
You can access the app drawer in the main interface by turning on Settings > Toolbar > App Drawer Icon (if you are a Remote Management user then this setting must be changed on the Remote Management profile settings).

This will display an extra icon on the toolbar as per below:

Alternatively you may provide access to the app drawer via our JavaScript interface with the following functions:

showAppDrawer()
hideAppDrawer()
