Classic Remote Management Migration

Classic Remote Management will be EOL 2026-01-01

Customers must migrate from Classic to Unified Kiosk Remote Management because classic will be EOL 2026-01-01 but also to benefit from the enhanced features, easier to use UI and performance improvements.

To migrate a device or profile login to the unified web console, click "More" and then click "Classic Migration".

Linking to existing KBR/Classic Account

In order to be able to migrate devices and profiles you first need to link your Classic subscription to Unified Remote Management.

Copy and paste your Unified Remote Management Migration Key from the Dashboard Page.
Click Link Please note linking your account will not transfer over your paid subscription, Unified Remote Management utilises a different e-Commerce partner (Paddle). When provisioning a device using our QR code your device is locked down in the most secure way possible. Kiosk Browser becomes the "device owner" meaning that it is granted more permissions vs a standard Kiosk Browser installation.

Key Features:

Streamlined setup process (embed licence keys or remote management registration key)
Automatically grant majority of permissions
Set the default launcher programmatically without user intervention
Hide home button and recents button/block access to home and recents hardware buttons (Android 6.0 or higher)
Block access to the status/notification bar (top of the screen) using official methods, rather than workaround
Update applications (Update Manager via remote management) or via our JavaScript interface, Android 6.0 or higher
Reboot device on schedule (Android 7.0 or higher)
Disable lock screen programatically
Block launching of applications not in app drawer (apps launched from JavaScript unaffected)
Disable booting into safe mode (Android 6.0 or higher)
Prevents Kiosk Browser from being uninstalled without factory reset

M3 Mobile Barcode Scanning Device Integration

We have worked with a number of devices with integrated barcode scanners to ensure that Kiosk Browser & Kiosk Launcher integrate with the barcode scanner in the best way possible.

ScanEmul Application

The pre-installed ScanEmul application sends barcode scan results in the form of keyboard input (HID) by default, so if Kiosk Browser/Launcher has focus on a textbox within your web application the barcode result will automatically be entered into that field. However there are scenarios where you may want to receive the results of scans differently or receive the data of multiple scans. To send the results directly to Kiosk Browser/Launcher follow the steps below:

Open ScanEmul from the application drawer
Tap the DEFAULT profile
Enable Intent Ouput (tick box)
Make sure Intent action is set to com.android.server.scannerservice.broadcast

How do I exit/access settings?

There are two methods for exiting/accessing settings.

Method 1
Either press the hardware menu button or menu button in the top right hand corner of the screen, tap Settings and then tap "Exit to Launcher/Exit" button. Enter the default password of 0000 (zero zero zero zero) and tap OK.

If you have hidden the toolbar, by default you can automatically show the toolbar again by swiping down from the top edge of the screen. If you have turned the swipe option off please see Method 2.

Method 2 Tap anywhere within the screen 4 times in quick succession to open the password dialog. Enter the default password of 0000 (zero zero zero zero) and tap OK. Go to Admin > Exit to Launcher.

||| Please note, when using the multi-tap method, you must tap a minimum of 4 times very quickly.

Potential Issues (exit not working) Some device manufacturers prevent switching of launchers programmatically which means the standard "Exit to launcher" function does not work. Device manufacturers known to have this issue are Xiaomi & Huawei howeve

KB: Full Screen Mode & Hiding the Toolbar

Full Screen Mode
If you have an Android 4.4 device or higher you can hide the bottom bar (known as the Navigation or System Bar) using the full screen setting - Settings > Display > Full Screen Mode, which is known as immersive mode (image 1 below).

If your device is running Android 4.3 or lower you can only remove the system bar if your device is rooted via Settings > Root Features > Hide System Bar.

System Bar shown below displays the back, home and recent items menu buttons.

|| Note: that the system bar / navigation bar cannot be permanently hidden and will always reappear on swipe up. This is a feature by design (in Android), and cannot be changed.
